A tragic helicopter accident has killed two people and critically injured one person in the Opebi area of Lagos State on Friday August 28, according to Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA).
According to statement released by the agency, the helicopter is a Bell 206, with registration number 5N BQW which belongs to Quorum Aviation Ltd. It reportedly came in from Port Harcourt, the Rivers state capital with two crew members and a passenger.
”An adult male was rescued and taken to LASUTH for further treatment. While two adult male were confirmed dead.” the statement read.
CP Lagos, Hakeem Odumosu, Commander RRS, Olatunji Disu, together with other police officers and emergency responders are currently at the scene in Opebi where a helicopter crashed. The Chief Press Secretary to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Gboyega Akosile, also confirmed the crash on Twitter, stating that the injured victim has been taken to the hospital, while the dead bodies have been deposited at the mortuary.“@IamDx2: FLASH: Helicopter crashed around Salvation, Opebi, Ikeja... Meanwhile, Director-General of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Dr. Femi Osanyintolu, confirmed that the accident happened at mid-day when a distress call was made.

On the arrival of the Agency's combined Response Team, led by its DG/CEO, Dr. Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu at the scene, it was observed that there was an helicopter crash.

The LASEMA boss noted that with the quick response by the emergency team, one person was rescued
